Weathervane Coffee announces opening date in Ashburn

The coffee shop is coming to the Goose Creek Village Center.

The new Weathevane Coffee shop coming to the Goose Creek Village Center in Ashburn has announced its opening date. The java joint will open to the public on March 1 and The Burn has your first peek inside.

Weathervane, which has a popular coffee trailer that pops up at area farmer’s markets, is moving into its first brick-and-mortar location. The shop will be on the ground floor of the Heights apartment complex at Goose Creek. That’s on the southwest corner of Belmont Ridge Road and Sycolin Road.

The Weathervane team roasts their own coffee onsite — a large roaster is one of the key fixtures at the new shop. Popular coffees they offer include ones with fanciful names such as Tanzania Peaberry and Dark Eyed Junco Blend.

What an odd place to put a coffee shop. Will you have to be buzzed into the apartment complex? Can it be seen from Sycolin Rd?

You do not have to be buzzed in. That whole complex has retail and commercial spaces on the ground floor, so there are a bunch of shops and businesses there.

But it can’t be seen from Sycolin Rd., like other retail shops as part of that complex. That center has always had trouble attracting customers.

Sure would be nice to have s quaint coffee shop go in at the new Riverside Sq shopping area. I don’t know of any such place, other than Starbucks, in this part of Ashburn. An establishment like the Blend in the Broadlands would be perfect!!
