Roaming Rooster opening new location close to Loudoun

The popular DC brand specializes in a variety of crispy chicken sandwiches.

A popular restaurant that specializes in chicken sandwiches — including the trendy Nashville Hot chicken sandwich — is opening a location in the Chantilly Crossing shopping center off Route 50, just a mile or so from the Loudoun County border. It’s called Roaming Rooster, and while a bit outside of our usual coverage area, as Loudoun County’s leading source for fried chicken news, we knew some of you would want to check this out when it opens.

A Washington Post food columnist reported that Roaming Rooster’s chicken sandwiches are better than the famous ones at Popeyes. The menu includes a Honey Butter fried chicken sandwich and a Buffalo fried chicken sandwich, among others. There  are also wings, tenders and more.  You can check out the full RR restaurant menu here.

Roaming Rooster got its start in DC where it now has three locations. It appears Chantilly will be its first in the suburbs. There is also an RR food truck. We’re told they hope to open the Chantilly store this coming fall.
