New Latin-themed butcher shop opening in busy Leesburg center

The store is coming to the Bellewood Commons center on East Market Street.

Here’s something you don’t see every day — an old-fashioned butcher shop. The new store is getting ready to open in Leesburg and it will have a bit of a Latin flavor to it. It will be called Carniceria Toro Negro in Spanish or The Black Bull Butcher Shop in English.

It’s opening in the former Sign-A-Rama spot right next door to La Estación Restaurante, a Latin American restaurant in the Bellewood Commons shopping plaza. That’s the same center with Melt Gourmet Cheeseburgers, Red Hot & Blue, and a Dunkin’ Donuts at the corner of East Market Street and Plaza Street.

The team from La Estación is behind the new butcher shop and they tell The Burn that they will carry all the American-style cuts of meat you would expect such as New York strip steaks. And they will also have meats popular in Latin American countries such as chorizo sausages.

So far, the facade and windows are just covered with temporary banners, but the new owners hope to move quickly and have the Black Bull open by sometime in June.

    Toro Negro?
    That’s funny

Will they serve intestines, and other favorites like blood sausage?

  3. If you want quality try German quality. I would recommend the butcher In Purcellville Lothar’s is the Place to go-as for the other guy; in this case they are just trying to imitate “LOTHAR MEATS!”
