The latest Sheetz convenience store and gas station in Loudoun County is opening this Thursday, June 10 in Ashburn. The new store is found in the Riverside Square shopping plaza along Riverside Parkway.
The brand has made a heavy push into Loudoun in recent years, with new locations added in Leesburg, Sterling and the Arcola area. And more Sheetz stores are coming, including one along 606/Old Ox.
The Riverside Square Sheetz joins Texas Roadhouse, Oak Health Club, Sola Salons, Nails at Tiffany’s, Black Hog BBQ and Mattress Warehouse in the new center. A Burger King and a Learning Experience preschool are under construction there as well.
At first glance, the center may seem like an odd spot for a gas station and convenience store as it sits — more or less — where Riverside Parkway ends, with just some small commercial and residential streets beyond. Traffic is light in the area, but that will change soon. Later this year, construction is expected to be complete on the Riverside Parkway extension which will connect the road all the way to Loudoun County Parkway. Drivers will be able to exit LoCo Parkway and take it all the way into Leesburg, where it becomes Fort Evans Road NE.
There goes a lot of the business for the high-scale Shell station that opened up not too long ago across route 7.
On the subject of that shopping center, Black Hog might be stifled there and competing with roadhouse. I wish it took Urban BBQs old spot because that’s been empty for over a year.
