The new Ashburn Senior Center holds its grand opening this week with a celebration and open house. The public is welcome to attend the special event planned for Thursday. Meanwhile, The Burn has your first peek inside.
The new 15,000 s.f. center is located at 20880 Marblehead Drive in Ashburn. Among the amenities, the center will offer program space for adults 55+, as well as a small gymnasium, large multipurpose room with pickleball courts, a commercial kitchen, a fitness room, classrooms, a game room, a computer lab and an arts-and-crafts room.
The Ashburn Senior Center has been in the works since at least 2009. The 5-acre property sits right next to the Regency at Ashburn, a 55+ neighborhood.
The event on Thursday kicks off at 10:30 a.m. with a special opening ceremony. Following that, the new Senior Center will be open for tours of the facility until 3 p.m. There will also be demonstrations of some of the programs the center will offer as well as entertainment.
