We’ve got an update about the new BriteWash Auto Wash coming to Leesburg. The owners have announced an opening date of September 7. The car wash — which will include some unusual features — is coming to the Shops at Russell Branch development going up next to Lowe’s Home Improvement.

The shopping center is at Russell Branch Parkway and Battlefield Parkway. It’s joining an ALDI supermarket, a Virginia Auto & Tire, a gas station, as well as other future retail shops there.

BriteWash plans to offer a large car wash tunnel with a “show wall” and laser lights for viewing. There will also be a small shop featuring snacks and freshly popped popcorn and there will be even be a tasting station featuring samples of local beers and wines.

The car wash will have a high-tech water reclamation system that will recover roughly 90 percent of water for reuse. They will also be using organic citrus-based cleaning products instead of less environmentally friendly chemicals.

The BriteWash in Leesburg is currently under construction, aiming for that September 7 target. This is the first of what’s expected to be a local chain of BriteWash locations. The last time we checked, at least two other BriteWash Auto Washes were in the preliminary stages, including a possible location in South Riding.
