Another day, another interesting new bubble tea shop coming to Loudoun County — this one with a musical twist. The Burn has learned that TeaDM Lounge is coming to Sterling, taking over the space vacated last year by Newk’s Eatery.
TeaDM is a local bubble shop brand with one other location in Fall Church. Besides the bubble tea, TeaDM serves up EDM music all day long as well. For the uninitiated, EDM stands for Electronic Dance Music. So the name TeaDM is a play on the acronym EDM.
Here’s how the brand describes its current location: “We serve bubble tea, flavored tea, coffee, smoothies, and more. In addition to tantalizing your taste buds, we’ll engage your senses with the EDM music we have playing all day. With the world’s best teas and today’s most electric beats, we’re Falls Church’s trendiest place to go for a refreshing drink.” And now they plan to be Sterling’s trendiest place for a refreshing drink as well.
The location is in the Shoppes at Potomac Corner center, just off Route 7. It’s at the intersection of 7 and Potomac View Road, kitty corner from the Northern Virginia Community College campus — which may be TeaDM’s target audience. It’s a large space too — nearly 4,400 s.f.
The shop’s location was previously occupied by Newk’s Eatery, a national chain similar in style to a Panera. The Sterling location was one of the brand’s first outlets in the mid-Atlantic when it opened in 2019, but it closed during the pandemic and never recovered. (See our coverage of Newk’s here.)
It was just earlier this week that The Burn reported on UniTea, a new bubble tea shop and traditional tea room coming to downtown Leesburg. You can see that story here. Now comes the TeaDM news. A TeaDM spokesperson told us they hope to have the Sterling location open by late this year if things go smoothly. Otherwise, early 2022 at the latest.
