Hornitos Mexican Restaurant headed to Ashburn Village

A new Mexican restaurant is coming to the Ashburn Village Shopping Center. It’s called Hornitos Mexican Restaurant and it will feature a menu with traditional favorites of the cuisine.

Hornitos — which means “little ovens” in Spanish — is taking over the spot vacated by El Rey Tolteca, another Mexican restaurant that closed during the pandemic in 2020 and never re-opened. That’s at the east end of the center, tucked in between Dunkin’ Donuts and the new Crumbl Cookies.

The menu isn’t finalized yet, but we’re told the usual line-up — tacos, burritos, salsa, guacamole — will all be there. The owners of Hornitos also have a Mexican bakery in Sterling — La Fe Bakery on Sugarland Run Drive — and they plan on carrying their specialty Tres Leches cake at the restaurant as well.

An opening date will depend on how fast the work on the space takes and hiring staff, but right now, Hornitos is targeting a mid-November opening.
