New Afghan kabob restaurant opens in Ashburn Farm

VA Kabob House, a new quick service restaurant specializing in Afghan and Middle Eastern foods, is opening today — Saturday, September 18 — in Ashburn.

It’s taken a spot in the Ashburn Farm Market Center. That’s the Giant-anchored center at the corner of Claiborne Parkway and Ashburn Farm Parkway.

This is the second location for VA Kabob House. Their first location is in Springfield VA. We’re told the family behind the VA Kabob House brand has been involved in many area restaurants for decades.

Kabobs are, naturally, the staple of the menu. The line-up includes chicken kabobs, lamb kabobs, shrimp kabobs, shami kabobs (spiced ground beef) and more.

There are also gyros, sandwiches, salads, as well as vegetarian dishes. Sides include Afghan nan bread, fried spinach, fried eggplant, and rice.

The space — a former chiropractor’s office — has been made-over into a simple dining room with a handful of tables and a counter for ordering. Dishes are available for dining onsite or for carry out.
