Thai Bistro closes at Goose Creek Village in Ashburn

Sad news to report out of the Goose Creek Village Center. After nearly two years in business, the Thai Bistro restaurant has closed its doors permanently.

The restaurant opened in November 2019 at the shopping center located at the intersection of Belmont Ridge and Sycolin roads. It featured a menu of Thai favorites including Pad Thai, Pad See-Ew, and Drunken Noodle.

No reason was given for the closure and the website and social media pages are still up as of today. However, we did get confirmation from a rep for the landlord that they have closed.

The closure comes at an otherwise exciting time for the Goose Creek Village Center, as two new major tenants were recently announced. Construction on a new Lebanese restaurant is already underway and a new farm-to-table restaurant and bar is also in the works. You can see The Burn’s reporting on those new establishments here.

No new tenant for the Thai Bistro space has been named yet, but we hear they are hopeful to fill it soon. Before Thai Bistro, it was East Wind China Bistro, so perhaps we’ll get another Asian cuisine restaurant there. Or perhaps something totally different. Stay tuned.

I’ve stated many times, poor design of center, high turnover rate for this center due to poorly run center and high rent costs. Expect at least 4 more business to close down as many are struggling to pay rent.

Really curious about your thoughts. First thought comes to mind is that most these businesses were caught up in pandemic which caused their closure. I saw their rents are cheaper than some of the other premium locations as One Loudoun and recent Brambleton Quart and surrounding area. And they are willing to negotiate. I also found that they build out your space which is mostly covered by the landlord. In comparison, some other premium locations offer somewhat limited aid in the build out.
As we are slowly getting back to normal, I would assume with proper marketing skills these businesses will thrive. Marketing is always essential. I don’t think you can count on any foot traffic here, at least not today.

You seem to comment out of experience. Please let me know your thoughts as I am actively looking at this location for a store.
