The China Taste restaurant in Old Ashburn appears to be closed for good. The doors are locked and the the furniture and fixtures have been removed inside. And with the closure comes a bit of a mystery.
Online, the Google listing for the restaurant says “temporarily closed” but the phone number has been disconnected. Restaurant owners don’t usually strip out all the fixtures and disconnect the phone number when they are planning on reopening.
Even the name of this location is strange. The sign over the door says “China Taste” but online the Yelp review says “China Haste” with an H. There is a website for China Taste and a website for China Haste – totally different design – both listing the address as 20630 Ashburn Road. It’s the strangest thing.
There are other China Taste restaurants in the area, so perhaps they were affiliated, but there are other China Haste locations too. Perhaps the owners were connected to one and then switched to the other brand name? That’s pure speculation as we haven’t been able to reach anyone connected to the store.
If we find out anything important, we’ll report back, but bottom line, the China Taste or China Haste restaurant in Ashburn is closed for now.
There’s a rumor that they hadn’t paid rent in a very long time. They’re lucky to have been there as long as they were.
The location will become an Indian restaurant.
The space has already been announced as the future home of Bebop Korean-Mexican Grill. https://www.theburn.com/2021/10/17/bebop-korean-mexician-grill-headed-to-loudoun-county/
That’s sad. We used to go there all the time. It was a nice young family that used to own it and I saw the two daughters growing up helping the parents out.
Sorry to hear this. As the previous poster mentioned, a very nice family owned this restaurant. I, too, watched the children grow up and several years ago, I happned to be there when one of the daughters received the news about a very good SAT score and the family celebrated.
So sorry to hear this! Food was fantastic and I think they had the best egg rolls. I too watch the children grow up.
