BKD Bagels in Leesburg starts soft opening Thursday

Bagel fans in Leesburg have eagerly been waiting for BKD Bagels to open its doors and tomorrow — Thursday, October 28 — is the big day. The area’s newest bagel shop debuts at its location downtown at 105 South King Street.

The opening is initially a soft opening — hours will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. to start. A soft opening is usually done without a lot of promotion and hoopla in order to allow the restaurant to work out any kinks and let the staff get used to the new space, the new equipment and serving actual customers.

The menu at BKD features a variety of breakfast and lunch sandwiches served on the bagel of your choice. The will also have a “build your own bagel” option where you can choose from a variety of cream cheese flavors, meats, lox, cheeses, spreads and other toppings.

At last check, the line-up of bagels was going to include the following flavors — plain, everything, sesame, poppy, salt, jalapeño cheddar, blueberry, cinnamon raisin, rye dill, and a seasonal pumpkin bagel. This list could have shifted, but it gives you an idea of what BKD will offer.

BKD has been around for more than a year. The brand’s specialty has been making small batches of gourmet bagels that were delivered to or picked up by eager customers. Now, they are ready to open their first retail shop — but likely not their last.
