Big “coming soon” posters have gone up in the windows of the future &pizza location at One Loudoun. The popular fast-casual pizza restaurant is coming to the busy main plaza at the Ashburn lifestyle center.
As The Burn reported back in August, &pizza is taking over the space vacated by Spinfire, a now defunct pizza brand. The spot is in between Nando’s Peri-Peri and The Meadow Original Frozen Custard, facing the large open plaza and splash pad in front of the Alamo Drafthouse movie theater.
The construction contracts have been awarded so work should begin any time. Plans call a complete renovation of the space from the former Spinfire layout, adding a long service counter up one side and seating for roughly 36 customers at tables.
&pizza is known for its eclectic style. Unlike some chains, which use similar decor and colors at each location, &pizza frequently goes in the opposite direction. The brand often paints its stores in bold colors with geometric designs to give each location a unique feel. They call themselves “an anti-establishment establishment.”
The new One Loudoun store will be the second &pizza location in Loudoun County. There is also one at the Dulles 28 Centre at Waxpool Road and Pacific Boulevard in Sterling. That location opened this past July.
There is also an &pizza inside Dulles International Airport, but it is beyond the TSA security checks and only available to ticketed travelers.
No updated word on when the &pizza at One Loudoun will open. We’ve reached out to a company spokesperson for the latest. An early 2022 target opening seems likely.
(Thanks to reader Ginia Daucher for the news tip and photo up top.)
Hopefully they will train their staff better than the location off Rt 28 at the Wegman’s shopping center.
