A new bar and axe throwing venue is in the works for Purcellville. The establishment will be called Elysium Axe Bar.
Here’s how Elysium describes itself on its website: “Drink local wines and rotating craft beers, while enjoying our unique food menu… all while throwing axes.”
The owners tell The Burn there will be eight throwing lanes at Elysium Axe Bar and they will feature a unique target system that projects the target onto the wooden wall where the axes are thrown.
This will allow a variety of different games besides a standard circular target with a bullseye. Picture a tic-tac-toe target, or a zombie faces beamed onto the wooden boards. Elysium says this will be the first axe throwing facility in the region with this projection target system.
Elysium should have an upscale, speakeasy vibe with couches for guests to sit on between rounds. They hope to host special events, such as bachelorette parties and birthday parties.
The food menu isn’t finalized yet, but expect popular bar items such as nachos, tater tots, and Buffalo wings. Plus, there will be more than 20 beers on tap.
Axe throwing has been growing in popularity in recent years. Autobahn in Sterling offers Axe Throwing, as does Axes & O’s on Ridgetop Circle off Nokes Boulevard. Meanwhile, a chain of axe throwing outlets with the awesome name Stumpy’s Hatchet House has been planning a Leesburg location for several years now. But there’s no word on if or when Stumpy’s will move forward.
The one big question regarding Elysium Axe Bar is where will it be located in Purcellville. There are lots of rumors floating around, but the owners have not confirmed the address yet, so stay tuned. They are currently aiming to open sometime in the next few months if everything goes smoothly.
