Loudoun’s second Wawa opens next week

At long last, the newest Wawa gas station and convenience store in Loudoun County is ready for its big debut. The new store — replete with the famous Wawa hoagies — is opening next Thursday, April 28.

“Doors open at 8 a.m. with an appearance by our beloved mascot, Wally Goose, and limited-edition Wawa “Goose Vibes Only” t-shirts for the first 100 customers through the door,” the official announcement reads. “Stick around for an outdoor ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. where we’ll introduce our new store team, announce the winners of our associate and customer “Day Brightener” celebration, and give thanks to first responders with our Hoagies for Heroes competition.”

The new Wawa is located on the northeast corner of the intersection of Gloucester Parkway and Russell Branch Parkway. That’s just off State Road 28.

Wawa is an iconic convenience store brand founded in Pennsylvania in 1964. It has an avid following among regular customers who seek the stores out for its menu of hoagie (or sub) sandwiches.

Meatball subs, cheesesteaks and many other sandwiches fill the menu, as well as breakfast items, soups, salads, ice cream and more. You can see the full Wawa menu here.

This will technically be the second Wawa in Loudoun County. The first one is located off Old Ox Road at the intersection of Oakgrove Road. That’s just a few yards over the Loudoun County line from Fairfax County.

There has been paperwork filed with the county for a third Wawa location in the South Riding area, along Highway 50 near the Loudoun County Parkway intersection, but so far, there’s no word on when that project will move forward.
