Local businesses offering discounts for Loudoun teachers

For the second year in a row, local businesses are banding together to offer Loudoun County Public Schools teachers and school staff discounts on products and services. It’s a way to say thank you to hard-working instructors and staff in our schools.

The idea was borne in 2021 — when Loudoun County administrators awarded teachers a commemorative “Challenge Coin” for their work during the pandemic. But there was no monetary value to the coin, and that didn’t sit right with some parents.

Photographer Elizabeth Whitley created the LCPS Challenge Accepted, and sought others to join her. Some 170 businesses around the area ultimately responded and offered discounts to teachers. Now, the Challenge Accepted team has returned for 2022.

For one week — from June 20 to June 26 — a long list of businesses are offering teachers special deals. For example, Black Hoof Brewing is offering 10 percent off a tab and a free pretzel with an LCPS badge. CV Clean Play & Home is offering $100 off a deep home cleaning. The list goes on and on.
