Popeyes opens at Compass Creek in Leesburg

Popeyes, the fast-food fried chicken restaurant, has opened its newest location in Loudoun County. The new store is found at the Shops at Compass Creek in Leesburg.

The shops are located next door to Leeburg’s Walmart store by the airport. Popeyes is just the latest in a string of restaurant openings at the new development.

Besides Popeyes, a Chipotle, a Starbucks and a Bruster’s Real Ice Cream shop have all opened in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, a Buffalo Wing Factory is supposed to open later this summer, and a Mezeh Mediterranean Grill is under construction as well.

Popeyes has been making a big push into Loudoun County opening multiple new locations. Besides the new Compass Creek location, one opened near StoneSprings Hospital a couple of years back, and at least two more are in the planning stages — one along Highway 50 in southern Loudoun County and one at the Commonwealth Center development in Ashburn.

There are several other longtime Popeyes locations around as well, including one in Ashburn Village, one in Leesburg on East Market Street, and one on Route 7 in Sterling near Dranesville Road.

The brand is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The first location opened in Louisiana (of course) in June 1972.
