A Place to Be music therapy headed to Village at Leesburg

A new music therapy center is headed to the Village at Leesburg, taking a large storefront space next door to the CMX movie theater. It’s called A Place to Be and is currently headquartered in Middleburg.

A Place to Be first opened in 2011. It uses music therapy, including group musical therapy and performance therapy, to help individuals deal and cope with challenges they may be facing.

This includes both people who are disabled as well as people who are struggling with emotional and personal difficulties.

Studies have show that music therapy offers a variety of benefits including improved heart rate, reduced anxiety, and improved learning.

The space that A Place to Be is taking is almost 6,500 s.f. and, thanks to more room, they plan to expand their offerings at the Leesburg location, while maintaining their services in Middleburg as well.

“Both locations will offer individual sessions and social therapeutic groups, but there will be more of them at the Leesburg location along with new community groups and offerings, and family theater offerings in the Leesburg location as well,” wrote Kim Tapper, one of the founders of A Place to Be, in an email to The Burn.

While no definite date has been set yet, the APTB team is hoping to open sometime in Spring 2023.
