Reston’s Fogo de Chão throws food-filled opening night party

The new Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse officially opens today at the Reston Town Center. And Thursday evening, they threw a packed opening night party filled with vast quantities of food and cocktails.

Your intrepid Burn reporter was on the scene and took photos of all the festivities (below) — and ate more meat in a single sitting than ever before.

If you’re not familiar with the concept — Fogo de Chão specializes in churrasco. That means grilled meats — and in Fogo’s case — served on a spit and carved table side.

If you’re wondering what the little tongs are for with your tableware — that’s for you to reach up and grab the meat as the server is cutting it so you can place it on your plate.

The cocktail hour centered on Fogo’s large bar area.
The Desert Rose, a cocktail made with tequila, Aperol, lime and more.
The restaurant as seen from the stairs leading to the second floor cigar lounge.
A ribbon cutting — using a steak knife instead of scissors — was held to inaugurate the restaurant.
A dinner at Fogo de Chão can start off with the Market Table, a huge spread that includes soups, meats, cheeses, veggies, hummus, tabouleh, salads, breads and more.

The centerpiece of the restaurant is the meats served table side. We sampled filet mignon, sirloin, picanha, tomahawk, ribeye as well as pork chops and lamb chops.
Little cheese popovers called pão de queijo were served at the table.
Not sure if this was just for the party, but a bartender pushed a cart around and made us a passion fruit caipirinha cocktail.
The dinner wrapped up with an incredible dessert of Tres Leches. We rolled out of the restaurant.
