Korean barbecue restaurants are all the rage currently — and now we’ve learned that Sterling is getting a new one that will specialize in an all-you-can-eat option. It will be called Khan Korean BBQ & Bar.
The restaurant is coming to the suddenly buzzing Countryside Marketplace shopping center in Sterling. That’s just off Route 7 at Countryside Boulevard.
Khan is taking a 6,000 s.f. space in the center near the CVS drugstore. That’s on the large size for a restaurant space in Loudoun, so this will be an interesting entry to the local dining scene.
At a Korean barbecue restaurant, there are usually burners or heating elements in the center of the table and guests are brought a variety of meats and seafood to cook themselves. There are also usually many sides such as veggies, rice, and soups.
The folks who are opening Khan Korean BBQ & Bar in Sterling already own two restaurants in the region. They are called Izakaya Khan and there are locations in Annandale and Centreville.
The all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ is a new concept for them. They have one Khan Korean BBQ under construction in Woodbridge, and Sterling will be their second location for the new brand.
The owners told The Burn that the restaurant’s signature dish will be Khan steak and it will be marinated in their special house sauce.
Work on the space at Countryside Marketplace hasn’t started yet, so they are looking towards an early 2024 opening.
Meanwhile, we mentioned that Countryside Marketplace is buzzing. That’s because in the past week or two, The Burn has reported on a Tous Les Jours bakery coming to a spot inside the soon-to-open Lotte Plaza supermarket, as well as a new fast-casual restaurant called Naz’s Halal.
Besides Khan Korean BBQ & Bar, another new Korean barbecue restaurant called Kiwa is scheduled to open soon at the Cascades Overlook center in Sterling. And an as-of-yet unnamed Korean barbecue restaurant is in the works for the South Riding/Stone Ridge area.
