Sign is up at new Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Reston

The opening of the new Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Reston is one step closer to happening now that the sign has been installed on the outside of the upcoming restaurant.

Ruth’s Chris is coming to the Reston Town Center.  It has taken the long vacant space that used to be Il Fornaio, an upscale Italian restaurant.

The steak house will face out on the Reston Town Square Park, a small one city block square park for the community. Other restaurants on the park include Barcelona Wine Bar, Bartaco, and the upcoming Pisco y Nazca Ceviche Gastrobar.

The Ruth’s Chris brand was founded in 1965. Apparently, it was originally called Chris’ Steak House. When a fire forced owner Ruth Fertel to move the restaurant in 1976, there was a problem transferring the name, so she simply tacked “Ruth” onto the original name and the rest is history.

Today, there are more than 100 locations in North America. The new Reston location was originally listed as opening February, but there is still a lot of construction still happening at the site. We have a message in to Ruth’s Chris headquarters for an update.
