Mr. Sushi & Mrs. Ramen coming to Ashburn Village

If restaurants won awards for cute names, Mr. Sushi & Mrs. Roll just might win. Now, the Lansdowne sushi restaurant is expanding with a new location and a tweaked concept.

The Burn has learned that a restaurant called Mr. Sushi & Mrs. Ramen will be coming to the Ashburn Village Shopping Center. That’s the large, Giant-anchored center off Gloucester Parkway.

The obvious tweak is that the new restaurant will be adding ramen to the menu along with the sushi. No word if the Lansdowne location will also change names or if they will just operate with two different concepts.

Longtime readers may recall that Mr. Sushi got its start with a kiosk inside the Lotte Plaza supermarket in Ashburn. In 2017, the owners opened a new spot in the Lansdowne Town Center where it has been ever since.

Now, a version of the brand is going to open just a few miles away in Ashburn Village. It’s taking a vacant 2,800 s.f. space next to the Dunkin’ Donuts store.

Readers and local residents may also remember that this vacant spot was the previous home of El Rey Tolteca, a Mexican restaurant. After that closed in 2020 during the pandemic, it was reported that another Mexican restaurant called Hornitos was taking the spot. But despite lots of work being done in the space, that restaurant never opened.

No word on when Mr. Sushi & Mrs. Ramen will open — we’ve got messages in for more details.
