Opening date announced for HomeGoods store in Leesburg

One community’s loss is another community’s gain. Such is the story of the HomeGoods store that is moving from Ashburn to a new location in Leesburg later this month.

The major home furnishings and decor retailer is closing its always busy Ashburn location to relocate.

Now, the important dates have been announced. We’re told that the Ashburn store will close its doors on Thursday, March 23 and the new Leesburg location will open one week later, on Thursday, March 30.

The new store has taken over a portion of the space that was once JoAnn Fabrics in the Fort Evans Plaza II center on Fort Evans Road. That’s the same center with a Buffalo Wild Wings, a Walgreens and other retailers.

Meanwhile, the Ashbrook Commons center in Ashburn now finds itself with two large, adjacent spaces available to lease.

The 25,000 s.f. soon-to-be-vacant HomeGoods space sits next door to the 22,000 s.f. former A.C. Moore store space. Those are some big spaces to fill.

Besides the new Leesburg location, locally there are also HomeGoods stores in the South Riding area at Dulles Landing and in Sterling at the Potomac Run Plaza.
