Charisa Thai opens its doors in Ashburn shopping plaza

Out with the old and in with the new. After more than a decade in business, the Mali Thai Cuisine restaurant in Ashburn has closed and a new Thai restaurant has opened in its place.

A banner hangs over the doorway at the space in the Broadlands Village Center announcing the arrival of Charisa Thai.

This location is down towards the Los Toltecos end of the center. Charisa Thai sit right next door to the equally new Eataliano, an Italian eatery that opened last month.

A glance at the Charisa menu and one finds all the staples of a Thai restaurant. From starters like Chive Dumpings and Tom Yum Soup to entrees of Kra Pow, Pad See Ew, and Red and Green Curries — there are plenty of options.

The Burn is interested in trying the dish called Crying Tiger. Don’t worry — we’re certain there’s no actual tiger in it — it’s actually grilled flank steak served with vegetables, sticky rice and a spicy sauce. You can see the Charisa Thai menu here.
