Wild Wood Pizza staying open in Leesburg after all

Wild Wood Pizza, the wood-fired pizzeria at the Village at Leesburg, isn’t closing after all. Owner Curtis Allred says they have worked out a deal with their landlord to stay put in their spot next to the center’s movie theater.

“This is something that will be an ongoing discussion with our landlord, but the short of it is that the new business that was going to come in to our space was unable to proceed,” Allred told The Burn. “We have continued to operate this whole period and have not given up.”

It was back in January that word got out that Wild Wood was going to be moving from the VAL location. Allred confirmed the pending closure and hinted at a move to another location, but the timeline was never set. It stretched out for more than two months — and now comes the news that Wild Wood is staying.

Wild Wood opened in 2020 during the height of the pandemic. Business at the pizzeria was slow, but growing over the past two years. But when news broke that they were moving — business cratered.

Now, Allred is hoping that this fresh lease on life will spur previous customers to return and new customers to give Wild Wood a try.

A cheeky banner is being hung at the store that pokes fun at their recents ups and downs. It reads: “Staying in Business Sale — Everything Full Price! Come Celebrate!”

Besides Wild Wood Pizza, Allred is also the owner of Delirium Belgian Beer Cafe in downtown Leesburg and the adjacent restaurant SnackBar.
