Karter Schools taking over former Crème de la Crème building in Ashburn

Well, the reports were true. Karter Schools — a chain of childcare centers here in Northern Virginia — will be taking over a huge s.f. facility just off Loudoun County Parkway.

Earlier this week, The Burn reported on the impending closure of the Crème de la Crème childcare center. It was noteworthy in part due to the sheer size of the facility, which is part of the larger One Loudoun development.

At 33,000 s.f., the building at one time housed a science lab, a basketball court, a TV studio, and other activity centers to keep kids occupied and learning.

The building originally opened as a Children’s Learning Adventure center, then it became Crème de la Crème. Both are chains with locations in multiple states. But Crème de la Crème recently announced it would close in May.

Now Karter Schools – which is a local chain — has told The Burn they are taking the space over. They are working with the building owner to set a start date. The hope is to open by July, but if things were to go really smoothly, they could open much sooner.

Karter Schools has three locations currently — in Sterling, South Riding, and Gainesville. According to its website, they also have a Haymarket school in the works. And now a future Ashburn location too.
