Loudoun’s last Bed, Bath & Beyond appears doomed

And then there were none. Thanks to this weekend’s bankruptcy filing by Bed, Bath & Beyond, it appears that Loudoun County’s last location of the once strong home goods brand will close — likely by this summer.

The filing came on Sunday and — barring a last minute reprieve — will mean the closing of the 35,000 s.f. Bed, Bath & Beyond at the Dulles Town Crossing shopping center. That’s off Atlantic Boulevard near Nokes Boulevard.

The move could also mean bye bye to the buybuy Baby store at Dulles Landing near Loudoun County Parkway and Highway 50 in the South Riding area. buybuy Baby is owned by Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Reports say the 360 remaining Bed, Bath & Beyond stores and the 120 buybuy Baby stores will stay open for the time being, but they will begin winding down operations. They are expected to close by the end of June.

If a buyer showed up that wanted some or all of the stores, the company says it could quickly halt the closing process wherever necessary in order to help facilitate the transaction.

Loudoun County already saw two other Bed, Bath & Beyond locations close recently — one at Dulles Landing and another one in Leesburg at the Fort Evans Plaza II center.
