New Barnes & Noble in Reston announces opening date

Book lovers will soon have another bookstore where they can wile away a rainy day. The new Barnes & Noble coming to Reston has announced an opening date.

According to a post on Instagram, the big day will be June 14. However, they added the caveat that the date is tentative — because we all know what can happen with the best laid plans.

The Burn first broke the news about Barnes & Noble returning to Reston last November. It has taken over the space that was previously an Office Depot store at The Spectrum at Reston Town Center.

It marks a return to the center for the Barnes & Noble brand. The bookstore chain previously had a store at a different spot in the center, but that location closed back in 2013.

The B&N sign was recently installed over the doorway of the roughly 28,000 s.f. space. By comparison, the Barnes & Noble at One Loudoun in Ashburn is a little over 17,000 s.f.

Barnes & Noble is one of two big anchor stores coming to The Spectrum. The Burn also broke the news that Whole Foods, the popular upscale grocery store brand, was opening in the former Best Buy space at the center.
