Kokee Tea taking over former Weathervane spot in Ashburn

Kokee Tea — a chain specializing in bubble and milk teas — is working on its second Loudoun County location — this time in Ashburn.

The Burn has learned that Kokee Tea is taking over the space at the Goose Creek Village shopping center that was previously the home of the Weathervane Coffee & Wine Bar.

The news is bittersweet. While locals will be happy to hear about the new bubble tea shop, many had hoped that Weathervane would be reborn.

In fact, when Weathervane closed back in February, the owners announced at the time that they hoped to reopen in the space with a new concept this June. Sadly, that’s not happening now.

Meanwhile, Kokee Tea will be bringing its menu of Honey Milk Tea, Oreo Milk Tea, Green Grape Tea, Sweet Cloud Cold Brew, and others to the area of Goose Creek Village known as The Heights.

The Heights is the apartment complex that rises above the retail and office tenants on the ground floor of the center on the south side of Sycolin Road.

That’s on the other side of the street from the center’s north half with Harris Teeter, Passion Fin, and other familiar tenants.

The first Kokee Tea in Loudoun opened in 2022 in the Whitman Farm Center at the intersection of Braddock and Gum Spring roads. There are more than 30 Kokee locations — primarily in Virginia, Maryland, Georgia and Texas.

The new Kokee Tea in Ashburn is aiming to open this coming July.
