A Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard shop is in the works for Ashburn. It will be opening in the Goose Creek Village shopping center near the intersection of Belmont Ridge Road and Sycolin Road.
Construction has already started on the corner unit, which is located directly below the Social House Kitchen & Tap and will face out onto Sycolin.
Rita’s got its start in 1984 in Pennsylvania and now has more than 500 locations across the country. According to the company’s website — the only other Rita’s in Loudoun County is the one at the Village at Leesburg lifestyle center off Route 7.
The menu at Rita’s includes the Italian Ices that it is famous for in a variety of flavors. If you’ve never head one, it’s sort of like a thick slushie that you can eat with a spoon. Flavors include Apple Berry Blue, Frozen Lemonade, and Gummy Bear.
Other treats include frozen custard as well as various frozen drinks and milkshakes. You can check out the full Rita’s Italian Ice menu here.
We’re told the folks behind the new store are hoping to have it ready to open sometime this coming summer.
