Loudoun’s first Hangry Joe’s Hot Chicken opens for business

Right on schedule, the first Hangry Joe’s Hot Chicken in Loudoun County opened its doors today. The new restaurant is located in the Leesburg Plaza just off Market Street in Leesburg.

A steady stream of customers was coming through the doors at the dinner hour Monday, and the staff warned that food was taking a little longer than usual due to lots of in person and online orders.

Anyone who has ever gone to a restaurant in the first few weeks knows this isn’t uncommon. And no one in line or waiting for their food seemed overly distressed.

The Leesburg Hangry Joe’s is the first of three locations coming to Loudoun for the fast growing chain. Another one is coming to the Cameron Chase Village Center in Ashburn and the Town Center at Sterling plaza at Route 7 and Dranesville Road.

Hangry Joe’s was launched two years ago in the Richmond area by the same entrepreneur who started the Sweet Frog frozen yogurt brand. Derek Cha jumped on the hot chicken sandwich trend that is sweeping the country right now and started his own brand.

Hangry Joe’s now has more than 80 stores open or in the works around the country. The highest concentration of them is here in Virginia.

No word on when the Ashburn and Sterling Hangry Joe’s will open. The Burn has been keeping an eye on them, but they are still in the construction process. No doubt, they’ll be coming along soon.
