New in NoVa: Overseas hit Wagamama coming to DC market

The region’s first Wagamama pan-Asian restaurant is under construction and should open sometime later this year. It’s coming to a spot on Clarendon Boulevard in Arlington.

The British-born brand has found great fame overseas, with roughly 200 locations around the world, many of them in Great Britain. According to the company’s website, there are seven Wagamama restaurants in the United States.

Those locations include three in New York, two in Boston, and one each in Tampa and Atlanta. Besides the Arlington store, there is also one in the works for Dallas.

In the U.S., Wagamama is a full-service restaurant with a full bar. Guests can sit at communal tables — which is one of the calling cards of the brand — but they also have individual tables available too.

The original concept focused on noodle bowls, but nowadays, there are dishes inspired by Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and other Asian cuisines.

This includes ramens, teppanyaki, rice dishes, and even curries. You can check out the full Wagamama menu here.
