Breaking News: Timber truck crash shuts Leesburg on-ramp

UPDATE: Leesburg Police confirm the road is back open to traffic as usual.

Police are working a big mess in Leesburg today. A logging truck overturned late this morning and has shut down one of the on-ramps to the Leesburg bypass.

Here’s what the latest according to the Leesburg Police Department: “The ramp from South King Street onto the eastbound Leesburg bypass is currently shut down for a crash involving an overturned logging truck and trailer. Please avoid the area and utilize alternate routes.”

Pictures posted to social media show the mangled cab of the truck and large timber poles tumbled all over the roadway and up against the guardrails on the ramp.

There was an ambulance at the scene as well. No word on the condition of the driver yet and no word on what caused the crash.
