Work underway at new Lansdowne Korean BBQ

It was more than a year ago — March 2023 — when The Burn reported that a Korean barbecue restaurant was in the works for the Lansdowne Town Center. Now, we can report that work is underway.

Permits are up on the windows and workers are inside refurbishing the space to suit the new restaurant’s needs. It’s the spot that was previously The French Hound.

We’ve also confirmed that the name is going to be Lansdowne Korean BBQ. This is despite a temporary sign on the front window saying its going to be called Oseyo. That is not correct, according to one of the folks involved in the new restaurant.

As anyone who has been watching the local restaurant scene knows, Korean BBQs have been all the rage in recent years.

Honey Pig in Ashburn, Kiwa in Sterling, Gogi 92 in Leesburg — these are just a few of the KBBQ restaurants to open recently in Loudoun and surrounding communities.

At most Korean BBQ joints, customers sit at a table with a grill or heating element in the center of the table. They then order from a variety of meats and cook them themselves right at the table.

We’ve compared the concept to the way customers cook their own food in hot oil or broth at The Melting Pot.

No official opening date has been set yet for Lansdowne Korean BBQ to open, but we’re told — if all goes as planned — they hope to open in about two months or so. In other words, sometime this summer.
