Nepalese grocery, takeout restaurant opening this week in Ashburn

The new Nepalese market coming to the heart of old Ashburn has announced its opening date. Kirana Pasal Himalayan Grocery & Meat Co. will begin welcoming customers this coming Sunday, June 30.

The store is opening in the Old Ashburn Square shopping plaza on Ashburn Road. That’s the same center with a 7-Eleven at one end and the Studio Bleu dance studio at the other.

Kirana Pasal has been touting its products online — items that will be of particular interest to people who like Nepalese cuisine and flavors.

We’re talking things like achar — Nepalese style pickles. Varieties include Szechuan Pepper Pickle with Fish, Hot Mango Pickle, and Jackfruit Pickle. They also have fresh meats, including several different cuts of goat meat.

Besides the market, Kirana Pasal will also be home to a new Nepalese street food stand called Tempo Shack.

Items on the menu include Steamed Momo, Pani Puri, and Aloo Nimki. The Tempo Shack menu will also be available on DoorDash and Uber Eats.
