A popular pie maker and pastry shop has found a new home in Loudoun County — but the business model will be a little different going forward.
Regular readers will remember when Kay Pitts — the owner of the Little Apple Pastry Shop in Aldie — announced last fall that her lease wasn’t being renewed and she was going to have to move after 30+ years in business.
Since that time, Pitts has been trying to find the right solution that would allow her to keep on producing her much loved pastries and sweets.
This week, she announced that she was relocating her shop to the ChefScape commercial kitchen in Leesburg. That’s located in the Village at Leesburg.
“I am pleased to announce that I have everything that I need to re-launch my business,” Pitts wrote. “It will be quite a bit different from the way it was. I am baking out of a shared kitchen with no storefront.”
Instead, the Little Apple Pastry shop will focus on selling her baked goods at area farmers markets as well as online sales with pickup available at the Leesburg location.
The solution was found after management at ChefScape heard about the local outcry on social media and reached out to Pitts offering their help.
A portion of the shared kitchen at ChefScape was turned into a private suite for Pitts and outfitted with all-new equipment.
Now, the Little Apple Pastry Shop is back up and running. The shop expects to have a regular presence at the Gilbert’s Corner market each weekend starting as soon as next week.
