New in NoVa: Canadian shawarma chain opening first Northern Virginia location

We always like to keep an eye on new national chains (and international chains in this case) that are coming to the area. And there’s an interesting one debuting this coming week.

It’s called Osmow’s Shawarma. The brand has 180+ locations, but most of them are in Canada. Now, they are expanding rapidly in the United States and one of the new spots is in Manassas.

This Tuesday, August 27, Osmow’s Shawarma will open its first Virginia location and its first location in the DMV at 9685 Liberia Avenue, Suite 105.

On opening day, the first 200 guests will get a free Chicken on the Rox dish. That’s chicken shawarma carved from a rotisserie and grilled, then served on a bed of “rox” which is their name for their signature rice. It’s then topped off with one of the brand’s sauces.

Other items available on the Osmow’s menu include bowls and wraps with beef, lamb, chicken, falafel, and more. There are also salads, appetizers and sides. You can see the full Osmow’s menu here.

Pro tip: Besides knowing that “rox” means rice, it will also help if you know that “stix” is their word for French fries — another option to use as a base under your shawarma meat or toppings.

There are already Osmow’s locations in New York and Florida. Michigan is about to be added to the list and it seems likely that additional locations will start popping up in Northern Virginia.
