It’s the news many residents in the southern Loudoun communities of Chantilly and South Riding have been waiting for — an update on the plans for a new Wawa store coming to the area.
The Burn first reported more than a year ago that a Wawa gas station and convenience store was in the works for the Loudoun Crossroads development.
That’s the retail project at the intersection of Highway 50 and Pleasant Valley Road where both a Popeyes restaurant and a Silver Diner restaurant recently opened.
Now, the Wawa has filed plans with the county for the new store and we can glean a few details. The store itself would be roughly 4,700 s.f. and there would be gas pumps for sixteen vehicles.
The filings — which are primarily aimed at making sure Wawa’s signs on the exterior of the building will meet local requirements — are still in the early stages. So, no word yet on when construction on the site will begin.
