Check out the amazing dining room at Herndon’s new Maharani Palace

(UPDATED) Get ready to dine like royalty. A new Indian restaurant called Maharani Palace has given The Burn a first look at its amazing dining room, bar, and lounges as well as a sneak peek at its menu.

Maharani Palace is coming to busy Elden Street in Herndon.

The Burn first broke the news about Maharani Palace back in February when we reported it had leased the former Mellow Mushroom restaurant building. That’s at 1030 Elden Street.

Construction has been underway ever since and now the Maharani team is planning on opening the doors next week — on Thursday, September 12.

The restaurant bills itself as fine dining with a focus on the cuisine of northern India. There is a large, elaborately decorated dining room, a huge bar, a long lunch buffet area, plus several lounges for relaxing as well as private spaces for special events.

The extensive menu includes such decadent sounding dishes as Nargisi Cream Chicken, which is boneless dark meat chicken cooked in a a creamy sauce with aromatic herbs.

They also have Lamb Kali Mirch Ki Handi, which is lamb simmered in a black pepper sauce, and Coconut Machi Curry, a cod fish cooked in spicy curry sauce with mustard seeds and coconut milk.
