Just 48 hours ago, it was basically a vacant lot. Today, there is a fully built coffee shop on the site. We’re talking about the unique construction process for The Human Bean, a fast-growing drive-thru coffee shop brand.
As regular readers know, Loudoun is getting its second Human Bean location in the South Riding area, at the corner of Highway 50 and Gateway Village Place.
It’s going up next to the brand new Arby’s restaurant that just opened earlier this year.
The Human Bean is a drive-thru or walk-up only coffee house — no inside public space — and the buildings are pre-built off site, then trucked to the location and lowered onto the foundation via a crane.
The new location in Loudoun was just installed yesterday — Wednesday, September 11.
The first Human Bean location in Loudoun opened back in 2022 in Sterling. So far, that’s the only location for the brand in the state of Virginia. South Riding will be the second.
The brand was founded in Oregon back in 1998 and now has hundreds of locations across the country.
The Human Bean is known for the single espresso bean it places on top of every cup of coffee, a tradition started in the earliest days of the company.
“The very first cup they served had a chocolate-covered espresso bean on top. And so would every single cup that followed,” the brand’s website reads. “Because The Human Bean believes in making even the smallest of exchanges memorable, kind, and sincere — and ensuring every customer has their day brightened for the better as they drive away.”
No word yet on when The Human Bean in southern Loudoun will open, but with their expedited building process, it shouldn’t be too much longer.
