A new Mexican restaurant is in the works for Loudoun County. It’s called Plaza Mexico and it will be coming to the Dulles Landing shopping center south of Ashburn and just north of South Riding.
That’s according to the operators of the center.
Dulles Landing is the large plaza near Loudoun County Parkway and Highway 50. It’s home to a Walmart store, a DSW, a new Bray & Scarff appliance store, Dick’s Sporting Goods and the under-construction Chipotle restaurant, among many other retailers.
Plaza Mexico is expanding south into Northern Virginia from Maryland, where the brand has two locations in Frederick.
While the official location of the restaurant at Dulles Landing hasn’t been announced — there appears to be only one logical location — a roughly 4,000 s.f. vacant restaurant space next to the Dunkin’ Donuts shop.
That spot used to be home to the Coal Fire Pizza restaurant which closed its doors back in early 2022.
The menu at the Frederick locations of Plaza Mexico includes all the standard Mexican fare one would expect — various types of nachos, fajitas, tacos, quesadillas, burritos and more.
A few dishes that jumped out at us include the Chori Fires — a chorizo Mexican pork sausage served over french fries covered with queso; the Ixtapa Fajitas — shrimp, scallops and chicken grilled with a special sauce, onions, tomatoes, pineapple and bell peppers; and the Burrito Tapatio — a pork carnitas burrito topped with queso dip and pico de gallo.

No word yet on when the new Plaza Mexico in Loudoun County is aiming to open.
