{"id":18232,"date":"2019-11-04T07:50:43","date_gmt":"2019-11-04T12:50:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theburn.com\/?p=18232"},"modified":"2019-11-05T18:18:45","modified_gmt":"2019-11-05T23:18:45","slug":"ashburn-boy-gets-starring-role-on-broadway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theburn.com\/2019\/11\/04\/ashburn-boy-gets-starring-role-on-broadway\/","title":{"rendered":"Ashburn boy gets starring role on Broadway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An Ashburn third grader has a big week ahead of him \u2014 he\u2019ll debut on Broadway, playing the role of Tiny Tim in \u201cA Christmas Carol.\u201d <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ashburnmagazine.com\/amazingkids\/ashburn-boy-gets-starring-role-on-broadway\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ashburn Magazine reported the news this morning.<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Jai Ram Srinivasan, 8, is a student at Newton Lee Elementary School. But this fall, he\u2019s been home-schooled in New York City in between rehearsals for \u201cA Christmas Carol\u201d at the Lyceum Theatre. The show opens this Thursday, Nov. 7.<\/p>\n<p>Jai is one of two child actors playing the role.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ashburnmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_7503.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-672\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ashburnmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_7503-819x1024.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ashburnmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_7503-819x1024.jpg 819w, https:\/\/www.ashburnmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_7503-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/www.ashburnmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_7503-768x960.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.ashburnmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_7503.jpg 1430w\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jai has been modeling for major clothing brands for the past year or so, but this is his first acting role. His accomplishments are all the more noteworthy because he has cerebral palsy, which causes him weakness and balance issues. Jai has a service dog named Banks who is with him much of the time.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ashburnmagazine.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ashburn Magazine<\/a><\/span><\/strong> has a wonderful profile of Jai in its upcoming issue, out next week.
