Ashburn Wine Shop adds new wine bar and kitchen

The store in the Ashburn Village Shopping Center is offering customers a place to enjoy a glass of wine and a bite to eat.

For years now, the Ashburn Wine Shop in Ashburn Village has been known primarily as a retail wine shop — and it still is, but the new owners are upping their game by adding tables, a long bar and a small kitchen in order to create a space for wine aficionados to gather and relax, have a glass of wine and nosh on a small plate.

The new menu — which they have just unveiled and are still tweaking — includes “tasty treats and lite fare” to use their words. Dishes include a Roasted Red Pepper Hummus served with veggies or warm naan; Grammy’s Maryland Crab Cakes with Eastern Shore blue crab; a curated cheese and charcuterie board; a variety of flatbreads; and for dessert, they have macaron flights from the Pure Love bakery in Brambleton. The Burn is eager to try the Goat Cheese & Fig macaron.

The Ashburn Wine Shop wine bar will have about 30 wines available by the glass. And customers are also welcome to pick out a bottle from the shelves, bring it back to the wine bar and enjoy it right there on the spot, along with a bite to eat.

The new wine bar is still in its soft opening phase and is currently only available to members of the Ashburn Wine Shop wine club. But soon, the Wine Shop team will expand service and open the wine bar to the general public starting Thursday, July 16. While the retail store is open seven days a week, the wine bar will initially serve food and wines just on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m.

The Ashburn Wine Shop is located in the Ashburn Village Shopping Center at the intersection of Ashburn Village Boulevard and Gloucester Parkway.
