50-meter pool taking shape at new Ashburn Rec Center

Loudoun County officials have released an update on the new Ashburn Recreation and Community Center that is being built in the Broadlands.

The latest progress report includes the digging of the competition size swimming pool that will be a centerpiece of the new center.

Currently, the steel framing of the 117,000 s.f. facility is nearly complete. This includes the first and second floors as well as the roof line. Work to install electrical, plumbing, and other systems is underway.

Meanwhile, the 50-meter pool as been excavated and crews are getting ready to pour the concrete for the floor of the pool and the sides.

When completed, the center will also have a separate leisure pool, a spa, a gymnasium, an outside multi-use trail, a playground, a splash play area, plus rooms for classes and meetings.

The Ashburn Recreation and Community Center is going up near Cardinal Wren Drive off Broadlands Boulevard, next door to Clyde’s Willow Creek Farm. It’s on schedule for completion in Summer 2025.
