Tarbender’s closes temporarily in downtown Leesburg

Tarbender’s Lounge, the hip, speakeasy style bar and restaurant in downtown Leesburg, has unfortunately had to close its doors temporarily.

Details aren’t 100 percent clear, but there were problems with the building where the bar is located that necessitated the closure.

Paul Zangos, the owner of Tarbenders, told The Burn due to the building’s age, it’s more complicated than just ringing up a repairman.

Zangos says the building at 10 South King Street dates to 1877. Because of this, the needed repairs are requiring input not just from the tenant, but from the building’s owner, and the Town of Leesburg as well.

Tarbender’s had just been preparing to unveil a new summer menu when the problems hit. Zangos says they will use this downtime to make some some improvements to the restaurant’s space and offerings.

While the length of the closure is unknown at this point, the Tarbender’s team is hoping to be ready to reopen on the other side with an even better experience for guests.

The closure will also impact Bender’s Brooklyn Bites, a New York-style eatery that serves favorites such as Coney Island hot dogs and knishes. It shares space with Tarbender’s in the building on South King.
