If we can get cans of soda and chocolate bars from a vending machine, why not food for our brains too. That’s the idea behind a new initiative from Loudoun County Public Libraries — book vending machines.
The library system teamed up with Loudoun Parks & Rec to install the new machines at four community centers across Loudoun — Bluemont Community Center, Claude Moore Recreation and Community Center, Douglass Community Center and Lucketts Community Center.
Library patrons can swing by one of the machine locations, scan their library card, and get a book with a push of a button. The goal is to increase access to books for residents in every corner of the county.
The vending machines will be available during regular community center hours and will have a diverse line-up of books with titles for all different ages.
