The big day is here. One of the Rubino’s Pizzeria locations in Ashburn has officially split itself in half and opened its new Rubino’s Sports Pub & Grill in the space it carved out.
Regulars at Rubino’s Pizzeria in the Southern Walk Plaza shopping center know that Rubino’s had a big space. Lots of local sports teams held their end-of-season pizza parties there, but it was still a lot of square footage to fill.
So, as The Burn first reported last May, the pizza shop decided to build a wall down the middle of the space. One half would stay focused on pizza, while the other half would become the new sports pub.
Wednesday, the Rubino brothers — who also own the three Filling Co. Gas & Grub convenience stores in Ashburn — announced that the sports pub was open for business.
The new space looks sharp — a big bar, lots of booths, and plenty of TV sets for watching the big game or match.
The new pub has seating for roughly 70 customers and features a menu separate from the pizza side and focusing on pub style food.
The front of the restaurant also has had garage door-style windows installed that can be rolled up on nice days to create an indoor-outdoor space.
For clarity, this is the Rubino’s location in the Broadlands neighborhood. There is a second Rubino’s Pizzeria location on Ashburn’s north side in the Ashbrook Marketplace plaza, but that location doesn’t feature a sports pub.
