At long last, the new Señor Tequila’s Fine Mexican Grill & Bar opens its Ashburn location today. The new restaurant in the Loudoun Station complex is holding a “soft” opening. Staff is still training, a few beer selections still haven’t arrived, so they are hoping for a slow, smooth day with understanding customers while they ramp up. They plan to hold a Grand Opening tomorrow, Wednesday, Aug. 8.
The brand has two other locations — one in Sterling and one in Germantown, Maryland. The plans to open in Ashburn have been in the works for a long time. The Burn first broke the news about Señor Tequila’s coming to Loudoun Station back in December 2016.
The restaurant sits on the backside of Loudoun Station off Shellhorn Road, facing the Greenway and the (future) Metro station. It’s conveniently across the street from the Starplex movie theater.
As we showed you in a previous story, the interior is decked out in all types of colorful chairs, tables, wall hangings and other decor and there’s a fresh tortilla maker positioned prominently near the front door.
My partner and I are there for dinner tonight. Lively atmosphere, and even a mariachi band! (I’m guessing that was for opening day and won’t be an every day thing… I hope.)
Margaritas were delicious and cheap. My dinner companion’s carnitas were “yummy”; and I was satisfied with the steak fajitas, although I wish the meat strips were larger like the ones at Uncle Julio’s.
Since I literally live right on top of the restaurant, it definitely wins points for convenience. We both agreed that we would definitely come back.
I’ve been to the location in Sterling a bunch of times. I think its an above-average Mexican chain restaurant and better that most of the other options in the area (Chuy’s, Uncle Julio’s, etc.).
Its a bit expensive for what you get compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area. Parrando’s will continue to be our go to in Ashburn. Check out the Fajita salad $13 for a miniature salad.
This is a fantastic restaurant! My wife and I loved the Sterling location, but the new Ashburn location is even better. We have a standing date night to the Starplex Theater every Friday and now can enjoy dinner across from the theater at Señor’s. Love it!!!
