The Burn is happy to report that construction work is underway on Slapfish, a fast-growing fast-casual seafood restaurant chain opening in One Loudoun. The new restaurant is going into a corner unit in between Starbucks and Uncle Julio’s.
News first broke about Slapfish back in January and the company initially said they were targeting a June 2018 opening. But then crickets. The space sat idle and we couldn’t get updates from anyone, other than assurances it was still happening. Now — crews are busy inside the space, walls are going up and a “Now Hiring” sign is posted on the door.
The California-based brand has a menu filled with decadent sounding seafood dishes. There’s a Grilled Shrimp Burrito, an Ultimate Fish Taco, a Lobster Grinder and something called Chowder Fries. Check out the full menu here.
No official word yet when Ashburn’s new Slapfish will open, but seafood lovers in the area will be happy to hear there’s progress.
We need more fast-casual seafood places. Hard to find a good fish sandwich or fish and chips. Not too difficult to find a burger joint or a Mexican restaurant or a shoddy pizza place. That reminds me, someplace that has good pizza (nothing against NY pizza, but there are other kinds out there).
