It appears the former Maggie Moo’s ice cream shop in the Broadlands Village Shopping Center has finally completed its transformation into Il Dolce Pastry, Gelato & More. For months, the Maggie Moo’s sign still hung above the door with an Il Dolce banner draped over it, but now a proper Il Dolce sign has been installed.
As the for menu at the new shop, it seems a bit of a hodge podge. Despite the Italian name and the serving of creamy gelato, Il Dolce has started offering sandwiches and entrees with a distinct Peruvian bent. There’s a Carne Asada sandwich (roasted strips of beef), a Jamon del Pais sandwich (country ham) and Peruvian chicken sandwich. There are Peruvian pastries and Latin American beverages. And then there’s a Reuben sandwich on the menu, which is about as far away from Peruvian as we can imagine.
Regardless of the eclectic offerings, Peruvian food is usually fantastic, so we’re looking forward to giving it a try. Il Dolce is open for lunch and dinner Monday through Friday. It opens earlier on weekends for folks who want to pick up pastries for breakfast.
